A. MagicJack is an hardware (with software user interface) you install on your pc usb port. You may can also download the apps to your mobile phone or simply pulg it into your traditional telephone jack and use it for several years.

Can I transfer or "port" my current land line telephone number to  magicJack?

A. There will be a non-refundable nominal fee. Click here to login into your  magicJack account and follow these instructions:  Click the "Phone Numbers" tab and then "Transfer". Next, click the "Transfer  My Number" button.
Follow the prompts to submit your transfer request.
There will be a $19.99 one time fee and $9.95 annual charge after the first year.

Q. How can I transfer my magicJack number to another provider?

A. In order to transfer a number on your magicJack to a new provider, eligible requests should be initiated by your new service provider, who will coordinate the transfer.
When we receive the request we will email you. A fee of $30.00 applies.

Q. Do I need to notify magicJack if I change Internet Service Provider (ISP)?

A. You may change your Internet Service Provider (ISP) at anytime.  You do NOT have to notify magicJack or reconfigure your magicJack when you  change your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Q. Do I have to inform my Internet Service Provider (ISP) that I am using  magicJack?

A. No. You do not have to inform your Internet Service Provider (ISP) that you  are using magicJack.

Q. Can I have DSL Internet without phone service?

A. Yes.
Most Internet Service Providers (ISP's) offer Internet-only service, that  they normally do not advertize. This service is usually called "Naked DSL" or  "Standalone DSL" and costs less then a bundled service with Internet and  telephone service.

Q. How do I dial International Calls?

A. Calling to International locations works the same as with other traditional  providers:
Calls to Canada & Caribbean:
Dial 1 + the area code + local number
Other Countries outside the United States and Canada:
Dial 011 + country code + city code + local number
NOTE: There are some countries like Dominican Republic, Trinidad & Tobago,  and Jamaica where calls do not require a prefix of  011.
To be able to dial International numbers, you must purchase prepaid minutes  at my.magicJack.com.

Q. How do I know I have a voicemail on magicJack PLUS or the NEW 2014 magicJack  PLUS?

A. You can set up stutter dial tone through your account portal. With this  feature on, you will have a stutter dial tone, instead of a normal dial tone,  if you have a new voicemail.
To enable this feature, log into your account at my.magicJack.com, click on  "Call Features", select "Advanced", and check the box for "Voice Message  Indicator".

Q. How do I arrange a FREE conference call?

A. To set up a conference call:
1.  Dial 305 848 8888
2. Select "Set up a Conference Call" and follow the prompts.
You will create a password and will be given a 10 digit code.
Distribute the code, time of call, and dial in number (305 848 8888) to all  conference call attendees. You may use the access code for any future conference calls as well.
To join a conference call:
1. Dial 305-848-8888
2. Select "Join a Conference Call"
3. Enter the pin

Q. Can I receive incoming calls on the free version of magicJack app?

A. Yes. When you dial a person's number the very first time, your number will  appear on that person's caller ID. He/she will always be able to call you  back on that number.
Please remember that your number may be different for different recipients.  You must call the person you want to have your phone number. Once called, the  recipient can always reach you on that number.

Q. Why don't I get incoming calls on my iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch?

A. In order to receive calls, you must turn Notifications on for your magicJack APP.  On your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch, go to Settings, Notifications, and select  magicJack APP.  Make sure that Alert Style is set to Notifications and Sounds are turned  on.  You can also shut down the magicJack APP by "double-clicking" the "Home"  button on your device, tapping and holding down the magicJack APP icon, and  then tapping the "X" icon in the top right corner of the magicJack APP icon.  Once the magicJack APP has been shut down, you can re-launch it by tapping  the icon.

Q. Does magicJack have traditional “Call Waiting”?

A. YES. magicJack offers complimentary Call Waiting.

To use Call Waiting with magicJack and magicJack PLUS:
Press the "FLASH" button on your telephone to switch between calls. If you  don't have a flash button on your telephone, tap the hang-up button.  To use Call Waiting with magicJack APP:  Press "Accept" when you receive a call while on the line. The original call  will be placed on hold. You can switch between calls by clicking the callers'  numbers listed on the softPhone LCD display.

Q. How is the call quality on magicJack compared to a cell phone?

A. Most users find the call quality of magicJack to be superior to that of a  cellular telephone and to be comparable to a traditional telephone call.  PC Magazine wrote "magicJack's call quality is amazing...almost too good to  be true...everybody should try it."

Q. Do I have Caller ID with magicJack?

A. YES.
Inbound Calls:
magicJack will display the Caller ID of the person calling you.
Outbound Calls:
Other parties with Caller ID will see your telephone number when you call  them.
They will NOT see your name, unless they have saved your number as a contact.

Q. Does the person I am calling also need to own a magicJack?

A. NO. magicJack makes and receives telephone calls just like a traditional  telephone.  The person calling you OR the person you are calling does NOT need a  magicJack. The person calling you may use a traditional telephone or cell  phone.

Q. Can my call ever get disconnected?

A.
magicJack monitors our dedicated telephone network 24 hours a day to ensure  our customers superior call quality.
It is possible that a nationwide network issue, a telecommunications system  error or other issue or condition of use may disconnect your call.  We recommend you redial the number.

Q. Will magicJack work with a Networked computer?

A.YES. magicJack will work on a computer that is behind a router or on a wireless  network.

Q. Will magicJack work with Wireless Broadband?

A.
YES. magicJack works with wireless broadband such as EVDO and HSDPA.  EVDO, also known as EV-DO, 1xEvDO and 1xEV-DO, is a standard for high speed  wireless broadband The acronym is short for "Evolution, Data Only" or  "Evolution, Data Optimized".  HSDPA, short for High-Speed Downlink Packet Access, is a new protocol for  mobile telephone data transmission It is known as a 3.5G (G stands for  generation) technology.  magicJack will also work with 4G.

Q. Does magicJack work with PBXs such as Asterisk?

No magicJack does not work with PBX systems.

Q. Will magicJack work with a two line phone?

A.
mgicjack will only provide one line of telephone service.  magicJack requires a traditional telephone handset that uses an RJ-11 plug.

Q. Will magicJack work with Linux?

Not yet. We expect to offer Linux support in the future.

Q. Can I use magicJack with a cell phone?

You can use a computer headset or traditional telephone with magicJack.  You have the option to call International numbers through your magicJack,  with your cell phone.
To do so, log into your account, using the email address and password that you used when you registered your magicJack.
Once logged in, click on the tab named "International/Prepaid" and enter the  telephone number you will be making International calls from and click  "Submit". Make sure you enter it into the box associated with the magicJack  that you have or will be adding International Prepaid Minutes to. You will  receive an email with instructions and access code, 305-848-9999. Dial the  access code to start making International calls from the phone number you  registered.
Please remember that you can only register one additional number per  magicJack.
Note: In order to make International calls you need to purchase International  Prepaid Minutes.

Q. Can I use magicJack to forward calls to my cell phone?

YES, if available, visit http://my.magicjack.com and login to set up Call  Forwarding. Click "Call Forwarding" under the "Call Features" tab and follow  the prompts to check out.
The call forwarding feature may not be used to forward calls to conference, platform and non-ILEC area telephone numbers.
